Super welcoming pub with marvellous food, right on the tidal river bank. Perfect after a riverbank walk from Colchester.

Outdoor seating next to the river, reasonable prices but at busy times food can take 45-60 min from ordering to serving so don't go for food if you're short on time/have a deadline!

Always busy on days with good weather and has a creaky old sign like it's a smuggler's inn. Great place.

Arrive earlier in the evening to get one of the riverside tables - they're mostly full by 10 or so.
