Visit on a clear night in the winter, but dress warmly as the roof retracts for star/planet gazing.

For the best photos, shoot at either sunrise or sunset. There are only a few angles where trees don't hide the building these days. Look carefully and you'll find them.

The cornerstone of this 1873 building is the same one laid by John Quincy Adams in 1843 at the original Mt Ida (later Mt Adams) location. Collection of Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton Co.

Home to the world's oldest telescope still in use nightly by the public - an 11” wood and brass refractor from 1842. John Quincy Adams gave his last public speech during the 1843 cornerstone ceremony.
