しだれ桜の名所。ソメイヨシノに比べてピークが一週間ほど遅い。そのため新年度始まってすぐの花見に使いやすい（年によってはそれでも3月末にピークを迎えてしまうこともあるが）。お花見の場所取り激戦区で、シーズンには社会人から学生までが早朝から陣取り合戦をしている。
