Bring loads of stamps then sell them to the people in the queue for the posting machine. They will happily pay a premium for not having to queue.

What's different about post offices today is that you spend your lunch hour queuing for a machine rather than a person

Don't get confused by the crazy hospital-like number/counter system - it does work. Use the electronic machines though, if you can.
