중국의 관우(關羽)의 제사를 지내는 묘로서 임진왜란 뒤인 1604년(선조 32년)에 세워졌다. 정식명칭은 동관왕묘(東關王廟)이며, 조선 말 관왕을 관제(關帝)로 숭상하여 관제묘라고도 하였다. 중국의 묘사건축형식(廟祠建築形式)을 본받았으므로, 그 평면이나 외관(外觀)은 한국의 다른 건축들과는 달리 매우 색다른 모습을 보이고 있다. 1963년 1월 21일 보물 제142호로 지정되었다.
