Although built 435BC, after Emperor Theodosius declared an end to paganism,it was used as a church for almost 1,200 years. In 1788 it was stripped back to its original state and became an ancient site

Go later in the day when the light is good and less tour groups. Bus tickets from main station really cheap (€1.10 each way!) Bus numbers 1, 2 or 3.
