Trekked to Smithfield at an ungodly hour expecting to see bloodied carcasses, gruff men wielding axes and an atmosphere of C19 London. Alas, it's a very sanitized set of unremarkable butcher stalls 🤔

If you miss the early morning meat market bargains, there is a butchers just across the road with bargain prices open until 3 weekdays and 12 on sat.

Huge and busy market. Most places close around 8am. You can get a great variety of meat for a very reasonable price.

Warman & Guttridge Ltd, about 4 stalls in from the West Entrance, will cut you ribeye steaks. Other butchers mostly refuse.
