【国指定重要文化財】百貨店建築としては初の重要文化財の指定を受けた建物ですが、当初は日本生命館として建てられ、日本生命からの賃貸として高島屋が入店したものです。高橋貞太郎の設計により1933年に完成、その後村野藤吾の設計により1952年から4期に渡って増築が行われました。

三越本館や伊勢丹と同様に東京都選定歴史的建造物でしたが建て替えの構想もあったようです。2009年の重要文化財の指定を受け、保存することになりました。

Foreign currency exchange on the 2nd floor! ATM machine on the 4th floor that accepts bank cards issued in the states. A lifesaver!

Nursery room for babies is on the 5th floor. Diaper changing, hot water for milk, and 2 private stalls for nursing available.

地下食品街奥の野菜売り場前にフルーツ、ケーキの果山 かざんがあります。わかりづらいですが、人形町甘酒横丁にあるかざんのテナントです。特にサバランが美味しい♪
