The stadium hosts UAB football and Birmingham Iron pro (AAF) football along with a bowl game. It also has a lot of history as the site of numerous Iron Bowl games.

Stadium/ facility needs funding. All football stadiums need to be multi-purpose stadiums designed to be easily used by multiple types of events other than just sporting events.
