悲惨な戦争の教訓を後世に伝え、世界恒久平和の実現に寄与するためとして開館した。沖縄戦に関する軍関係文書や個人所蔵の文書、ひめゆり学徒の手記等が収蔵・展示される。館内の展示は5部構成であり、「沖縄戦への道」、「鉄の暴風」、「地獄の戦場」、「沖縄戦の証言」、「太平洋への要石」。証言も聞け、読むこともできる。

Interesting and well researched museum, but difficult to reach. Bus 89 to Itoman and then 82 to the museum. One way ~1000¥
