Lisbon is a paradise for a visual person. This is the place where I got completely engrossed in the beauty of a place for the first time in my life. What makes up this city's beauty for me? These are the authentic district of Alfama, the traditional cafes called taska, the empty lookout points, the colorful postboxes, the open kiosks in the streets, and the beautiful Estrela Park.

You will get to know the city better if you come when it is not hot, get up early in the morning and set out to walk its streets until late in the evening.

During the day, you will do a lot of going up to then go down, as well as going down to go up, – the city is built on numerous hills, so it is better to wear something suitable for the occasion.

If we talk about gastronomical discoveries, Lisbon reintroduced me to orange juice: Portugal has very juicy oranges, so I had it all the time, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. As for food, I would recommend chocolate croissants at A Padaria Portuguesa, shrimps with rice at TimeOut Market, and the Santini ice cream.

"Another great discovery for me was the main flea market, Mercado de Santa Clara, open on Tuesdays and Saturdays. A spontaneous colorful marketplace full of life, in the middle of the city! Most days, this is a very quiet place: a small park, a marketplace closed for reconstruction, a street with several cafes. I did know that there is a market somewhere in the Alfama district, yet I would have never thought that takes place right in front of the National Pantheon. The police close the surrounding streets for traffic, creating a cozy market ring along the park fences, to the joy of both sellers and buyers alike."
