We update our map files approximately once a month. When there are newer maps available, you can see the Update option in the Download menu under the name of the country you downloaded.
We take our map data from the OpenStreetMap which is constantly updated by its users. Not all areas have been covered equally accurately, but the maps get better as the project develops.
You can also contribute to the project and correct the maps directly at the OSM website.

Tap the Geolocation icon in the lower left corner of the screen, and it will show your location in the middle of the screen. Then you can zoom, move and rotate the map (the last only in Pro).
After you found yourself, you can tap the compass icon in the upper left corner to reorient the map North.
Small question mark inside the Geolocation icon is the sign of failed attempt to fetch geolocation data. Most likely, the satellite signal is too weak, or some settings are wrong.
Not all mobile devices have GPS receivers, even the most popular tablets. For example, there is no built-in GPS chips in such devices as:
- Wi-Fi only iPads,
- Amazon Kindle (except Kindle Fire HD 8.9 4G)
Anyway, our application will give you your exact location on these devices if there is any Wi-Fi hot spot around, or when the device is connected to a network.
If you are an iPhone/iPad user, please check your Privacy settings. Geolocation data sharing should be enabled for our application. Please, do not activate Airplane mode, as GPS and location services are turned off in the flight mode. To avoid unwanted data roaming, you can turn off all cellular data.
Android users should also check if GPS is on (it may be switched off by default)
Finally, please remember that GPS works better outdoors, under the clear sky, and it is weather-sensitive. Sometimes it may take up to 10 minutes to locate you if the conditions are not that good.
Please make sure GPS is enabled in settings, reboot your device and try to press "locate me" in MAPS.ME once again. If if doesn’t help, please contact us via e-mail.
Tap on the Search icon in the lower left hand corner, type the name of the place into the search tab, and the results will appear automatically in the list below.
Sometimes there is nothing on the list.This means that your search terms are misspelled, too specific or not presented on the map.
IMPORTANT: Don't forget to download the map of the country before you search for a particular place.
You can search not only by name, but also by category (keyword). The most important categories are presented as icons under the search tab (food for restaurants, money for ATM or exchange, fuel for gas station, tourism for places of interest, and so on).
Here is a small list of the keywords you can use for search (actually there are many more keywords in several languages):
Money, food, drink, fuel, shop, transport, tourism, bicycle, cinema, hospital, library, pharmacy, phone, theater, toilet, water, hotel, airport, sport, police, embassy... and so on.
Locate the place on the map, tap on it, follow the arrow and add it to bookmarks from Place Page. If the object is not mapped in the app, please, tap on the place you want to save and hold down your finger on the map for a few seconds until "Dropped Pin" appears.
Press and hold on the pin, then tap on the blue icon and edit any details of your saved location. If you do not want to add or edit the bookmark you have just activated, you can touch any other place on the screen, and the description will disappear, as well as the unsaved pin.
All Bookmarks belong to sets. By default is My Places, but you can have more sets for different purposes. For example, you can create a set of Places To Visit, or a list of your Favourite Restaurants. You can see the sets yo'vue created when you tap on the Bookmarks icon.
Don't worry.You might have accidentally switched off the visibility of a set they belong to. The eye icon beside the set name indicates its visibility. Tap on it, and the whole set will become invisible on the map (but not in Bookmarks menu). You can also change visibility for a particular group of Bookmarks.
